AIRfeet for Your Patients’ Feet! Stepping Into Life-Changing Insoles
Is it too big of a claim to say that an insole in a shoe can be life-changing? For the people who spend a lot of time on their feet, who now have less pain and discomfort due to these innovative insoles, their quality of life, indeed, has improved dramatically.
One of the most rewarding parts of what we do here is to help our patients enhance their lives. That’s why we are very excited to offer AIRfeet insoles. They fit easily into all types of shoes — on top of other insoles you may already have gotten from us.
Recently, we visited with Wayne Purcell, the president of AIRfeet, who shared more of the behind-the-scenes story of how AIRfeet came into being and got into the shoes of satisfied customers.
Born and raised in Australia, Wayne came of age and developed expertise in aviation, aerospace, engineering, and design. Eventually, he came across an opportunity where he could use all of that experience. “Every once in a while you see a product that was well-conceived but not well executed — sort of like if someone were to develop a square wheel. The concept of a wheel was great, but the execution didn’t work,” Wayne remembers. “It was the same way here. My brother had back issues, and I had the chance to develop an insole to try to help. It was something we dove into together.”
So, he designed and developed AIRfeet, a moving insole that makes life much more enjoyable for those who spend it on their feet. After manufacturing commenced, it wasn’t long before Wayne and his brother debuted AIRfeet to raving success.
At first, they focused on sharing AIRfeet with marathon runners. Over time, they expanded into other areas, including firefighters and other first responders. They’ve also been an integral part of the solution for large corporations that discovered rubber mats are a leading cause of workplace injuries. With AIRfeet, employees replace the rubber mat cushion effect with a much safer alternative. The success story has continued to grow as the golf world, military, and other industries adopt AIRfeet.
Now, AIRfeet is available to you here. And your patients will love the benefits. As Wayne points out, “The foundational benefit of AIRfeet is our ability to naturally and non-invasively stimulate muscles and circulation from your lower back down through your legs and feet without doing anything more than putting your shoes on. Also, our product is so interchangeable. The simplicity of using it is an incredible addition.”
AIRfeet has been featured in several national health-related publications, including the Applied Ergonomics Journal. In a clinical study conducted by Ohio State University, researchers found that AIRfeet delivered a significant reduction in tibial shock — the impact of being on your feet on the tibia, compared to other insoles. The dynamic — or moving — insoles were reducing that shock in tennis shoes and work boots to bring tremendous relief for many ailments.
It’s easy to see the passion that Wayne has for sharing AIRfeet with more of the public. “Assisting someone with a particular ailment in their work or life each day is critical. I can’t promise someone that they will eliminate an ailment,” he says. “But if we can reduce that degree of discomfort by a certain amount non-invasively, then I think there is a true value. It’s rewarding seeing the comments from our customers.”
